Beautifully appealing not-over-the-top cinematic music is in fact possible as it is proven by Michael Llewelyn Barker in his recently released "Hinterland".
Taking of on angelic drones and a simple piano melody, the music slowly builds and evolves, luring the listener deeper into its picturesque landscape. Soon joined by a string section, the composition does begin to reveal its cinematic core, but again - in a way that is inviting and non-demanding. Dynamically rich and drama free the composition is as captivating as it is elaborate.
